What is that which makes us so....special....!!!!.....???

Every human is proud of his/her physical or mental domination over all other creatures. But do we know all the facts about other organisms to make the statement. Actually human are somewhat special but not to the extend we think we are. I suppose we have to reconsider our very perception that only humans can think or memorize or sleep etc. If you think that only humans had the ability to reflect on their own thoughts, technically which is called 'meta-cognition". Well, think again. A Psychological study done at University of Georgia reflects that rats also have this ability. They think; they express but it reflected that they know what they don't know. Likewise if you think that only humans can sleep, think again!!! Not just dogs but flies do also sleep, just like we do and more importantly, it's the expression of the same genes during sleep and awake hours; just as in the case of humans. Astonished….!!! If not then you should now because the research also suggests th

Donate Your Organs - Save Many Lives

Liver Transplant in India - Liver Transplant Coordinator's Perspective. Human Organ Procurement and Education (HOPE) Trust (Regd.) Now this is an established fact that Transplants are one of the most miraculous achievements of modern medicine which depend entirely on the generosity of Donors whether living or deceased. But due to critical shortage of organs, thousands of lives are lost every year in India. We aim to promote ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS LEAVE A GIFT OF LIFE TODAY What is Organ Donation? Organ donation is the action of taking an organ out of a human body after death to transplant it to the body of a patient with end-stage organ failure. In this way, the patient’s quality of life will increase reasonably. In recent times, the concept of eye and kidney donation has been very popular and successful, thanks to the wholehearted support of people from all sections of society. Besides the eye and kidneys, it is also possible to transplant the heart, lungs, liver and pancrea

Controlling Dreams: I Clicked Shut down in my dreams and Woke up!!!!

It was in cognitive science class that when we were discussing about the consciousness and we tried to define it globally, that we all accepted the notion that in dreams one is unconscious but just then somebody said we can actually control our dreams. This was the time I realized that many times in my life I also a kind of controlled my dreams. Once I was in my dreams playing counter strike not as a user on a computer but actually as a player as if a real encounter was going on. I was able to sense each and every moment of the play: from the tiredness of running to the fear of enemy. When I was about to die, I realized that this cannot be a reality and so I must control my dream and thus I clicked the shutdown button so as to wake up from nightmare. This was not the first time I controlled my dream but was so lucid that I created a virtual screen, clicked start and then shut down to come off my dream. Many a times it happens that what we ought to do for e.g. taking up medicine; we do

Why anything raise to the power 0 is 1??

Everyone is surrounded by numbers or to be specific MATHS!! Pragmatically everybody has to apply mathematics concepts in one way or other. Even a small child starts his cognition by starting counting. It is so important in human world that without it one cannot think of being able to live. But wait a minute, if it is indispensable and so natural, is it really natural? Confused?? Mathematics is not at all natural in the sense that it is purely man made and cognitive or to be more specific thought process provoked ; not at all science!! I mean what is the proof that 1+1 always equals to 2 and why not 3 or any other number. Mathematics is the way we define it. It must have started with addition and then its inverse subtraction, multiplication and then division; in the same terms we can talk of more sophisticated stuffs like differentiation and integration. During the discussion in the class I realized the importance of cognition and thought process while developing something that should

A Girl who reads with her eyes wide SHUT……!!!!!

This was put into my notice while discussion in cognitive science class, about a girl who came in India talent show; she can actually read anything with her eyes closed. This can be possible only when either she can sense the light even when her eye lids are closed or there is some other sensory organ which is helping her. Was that a miracle or a supernatu ral power? Whim of the same reminded me of “Out Of Body Experiences” which has a similar kind of story. Does anyone actually possess those powers? The answers to these questions were hinted sometime back in my childhood when I came to know about kundalini powers. Many of us will be surprised by the fact that we possess 7 more sensory organs(chakras) which are dormant (in kundalini state). If we are able to awake them (kundalini jagriti), we can also experience many of the so called “Out of world Experiences”. This no theory or thought process i am talking about, this is now mathematically and scientifically proven. It was thou

Your YELLOW is NOT my YELLOW!!!!!

Everyone has his own unique world, each individual has a distinct perception, not only the way each one looks at the things but also the colors in which we see. The most fascinating thing I realized was that each individual has his own paint brush and color palette using which he paints the world around him. The only misfortune is that he cannot color on his own will. The other way to put things is that there are no colors at all; there are only wavelengths that we sense and process to form colors. Having analyzed this fact, I was keener to find out the reason behind this cause. We say that almost everything is coded into our genome, so there should be something peculiar which should be tapped in order to find the correct reason behind such a cause. So I tried to find out the color sensing organ or pigment inside a human eye. The color sensing entity in a human eye is cones cells, which actually senses the wavelengths and then preprocessing results in the creation of colors. In fact,

Visual Intelligence

Different organisms perceives & process things differently; bats use ultrasound to navigate through their way, frog uses different contours, and so we human also have developed a visual system. The output of the signals sent by retina is transformed and processed by a Human Brain which is the most complex system ever studied. Since, the time antediluvian, brain has been the centre of interest. It is the system that every civilization tried to study, whether it be Indians or Europeans, all have put up their best efforts to study the brain in their own styles which resulted to form different interpretations. Brain processes data to information to form a perception; the factors affecting the latter are Beliefs (or rather environmental factors) and stimulus which is the agent. The agent is the sensory organ which transmits the data to the brain. Now, this could be any sense organ like nose, tongue, touch, visual system etc. Among these, the most fascinating is visual system, not becaus

Jaane kya hoga rama re......!!!!

And now when you know (if not then read previous posts) what happened to we Open System People, the final results was apparent. Out of a batch of 200 students 120 flunked in “Compre exam”. All the other streams- (JAVA and Dot-Net people who had around 90% result) were celebrating their “black tag” (Permanent Employee of Infosys tag), when OS students were lamenting on their fortune. Written on my 23 rd birthday, the song was literally sung aloud during lunch break by our group of friends. The next day it got The reputation of National Anthem of Open Systems Batch and is still famous in Infosys...!!!! Soocha nahi tha takdeer yahan layegi…….!!!!
